As Jesus started his movement, he stood on the side of a hill and delivered his defining manifesto. As he said things like, “blessed are the poor in spirit,” “blessed are the hungry,” “blessed are the persecuted” he made it clear that his value system is different from the world. In his backward kingdom the weak are strong, the starving are satisfied, the losers are winners, and the hated are loved.
